Mesothelioma

Asbestos Illnesses.

Mesothelioma:

This is a rare form of cancer that is known to be caused by asbestos exposure. The disease is a silent one and can take 20 to 50 years or more to develop following exposure.

Mesothelioma affects the covering of the pleura and (less commonly) the lining of the abdomen (known as the Peritoneum).

Symptoms of Mesothelioma to the pleura may include, breathlessness, pain to chest/shoulder or back area, sudden unexplained weight loss and fatigue and immediate medical attention should be sought in these circumstances and any known asbestos exposure should be mentioned to your Doctor.

Mesothelioma of the pleura is usually diagnosed with a biopsy taken with a video assisted thoracoscopy known as VATS procedure and by CT Scan.

It can be difficult to diagnose as there are many different types of cells that make up Mesothelioma and sometimes it can be difficult for Doctors to determine if the cells or tissue, taken from the Lungs (pleura) or the abdomen (peritoneum) are a type of Mesothelioma, as these cells often look very similar to other types of cancer cells.

If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, it is important that you seek the correct legal advice from Specialist Solicitors.

We will make your appointment our priority and will ensure that a member of the Team can attend upon you at your home address at your convenience.

Where a company no longer exists, James Murray are able to use their specialist tracing procedures to identify original employers liability insurance who would be responsible for the claim.

If there is no liability insurance then we can assist you in submitting an application under the Diffuse Mesothelioma Scheme, which is a government scheme set up for victims of Mesothelioma in absence of a traceable insurance company.
