Actions Against the Police

Actions Against the Police

At James Murray Solicitors we are very proud of our record of helping people who feel they have been unfairly treated by those in authority, such as the police or prison service.
If you have been wrongfully arrested or assaulted during an arrest or whilst in custody, you may be entitled to claim compensation.
Our lawyers can help you retrieve any items retained and are experienced in making strong complaints to the police or prison service for improper conduct.

Free or affordable action

In most cases anyone who is taking action against the police will have their case funded by LEGAL AID.
This means that the Government pays for the costs of the case.
In a small number of cases some clients may be asked to make a contribution towards the costs, but do not worry, we will always tell you in advance before you decide to go ahead.
In some circumstances we will enter into a “No Win No Fee” agreement with you, depending upon the circumstances of your individual case.

Lee Massingham

Lee Massingham LLB (hons), partner

Lee is the head of our Actions Against the Police Department.

Lee is also the Legal Services Category Supervisor for actions against the police. He has secured justice for many clients who have been mistreated by the police or prison service. He feels that only law firms like James Murray Solicitors can protect ordinary law-abiding people who fall victim to unnecessary police violence and intimidation.

Lee says: “We are one of the very few firms who are granted a contract by the Legal Services Commission to undertake work involving actions against the police and so we must treat those cases very seriously indeed to get justice, and so improve police behaviour.”
