New driver provisions

Six or more points within two years of your test = Revocation

Under the New Drivers Act 2005, your driving licence will be revoked by the DVLA if you build up six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test. You will then need to reapply for your provisional licence and resit your theory and practical driving tests.

Any penalty points you gained before passing your first driving test are taken into account.

As an example, if 3 penalty points are endorsed on your provisional licence, they will show on your full licence when you have passed your test. If you then incur any further penalty points during the first two years of driving taking you up to six or more, your licence will be revoked under the New Drivers Act.
